The choice of a family law attorney is the most important decision a client facing a family law matter must make. Family law matters are by their very nature complex and emotional, making the relationship between the client and attorney very close. I believe that for a client to have a positive experience while going through a divorce or other family law matter, it is essential that the client have faith and confidence in their attorney and are also comfortable enough to address intimate details of their lives.
Although I practice in business law, estate planning, and probate, I am particularly drawn to the practice of family law. It is through my work with family law clients that I am able to obtain a true sense of accomplishment in helping my clients move on successfully with their lives. It is important to me that at the end of our professional relationship, my clients have everything they need to succeed as they move into a new phase of their lives.
Prior to attending law school, I was a synthetic organic chemist with Pharmacia Corporation. As a chemist, it was my job to work with a team to envision and create molecules that would be effective as potential cures for a given therapeutic area. This scientific background and training has provided me with a unique insight in the law. Specificity and research are second nature to me. Like organic chemistry, the legal world is a complex system with many answers and possibilities for each situation. Often, there are many potential outcomes for a single situation. As an attorney, I use this insight to work with my clients in finding and crafting the best solutions for each of my client's personal situations. By working together, my clients understand the possible solutions and are able to select the solutions that work best for themselves and their families. It is important that my clients have the real and personal solutions that will work for them, not generic solutions that are typically short lived or inappropriate for their personal situation.
Each client has a unique situation. Therefore, I believe that it is important to listen to my clients so that I may better understand their individual needs and goals, both short-term and long-term. I believe it is important that clients have a firm understanding of both their own personal situation and the legal process. By working closely with my clients, I am able to help them understand where they are when they arrive at my office and help them to make the right decisions to ensure that they are comfortable and confident in their lives after the matter has concluded.
